Jasmine Star // Workshop Part II // Orange County

So you already know my story of how I made it to the Jasmine Star workshop (if not – see it here!) Once we hit the ground in Irvine, we were off running.  On Monday night a mixer was put together at a fun little place in Irvine (Wood Ranch BBQ). We were able to meet, greet and chit chat with the other workshop attendees for a few hours which was great.  It was there that I had my first two, jaw dropping, eye opening experices of the trip.  The first was obviously meeting Jasmine herself and being able to talk with her on a person to person level.  She told me about her week and I told her about mine.  We were both coming off of difficult weeks and it was nice to see us both starting to recover (for a lack of better terms). My second jaw dropping moment came when one of the workshop attendees (Art of Art Urroz Photography in Irvine) said that I had photographed one of his favorite wedding images. Say What?!? Me?!? Couldn’t be!! He spoke of the image (this one) and mentioned that he had commented on it, literally months ago. I mean, you’ve got to be joking, right? He wasn’t. I’m still in shock that someone would recognize me and my work. It might never happen again as long as I live – but at least it’s happened once!

The following day we all met up at the most pituresque club house for a light breakfast and work! Jasmine opened up, answered our questions and was completely candid and real. After the workshop portion, we moved on to a bridal shoot – which was awesome! Erin and Grant were a married couple (they had just celebrated their two year anniversary) and were simply perfect! They fit my style to a T. They were modern. They were romantic. They were classic. They were in love. We moved through different lighting situations and some of us even did our own posing techniques. We were truly learning from one another, from Jasmine and learning by doing.

Post-shoot Jasmine and JD (her hubby) treated us to a fabulous dinner at Maggiano’s – a yummy multi-course meal with tiramisu to top it off. We continued to talk at dinner – about life, love and of course, photography!

It was amazing. Life affirming. Life changing. So glad I did it.

Now… Please enjoy the images from our shoot!!

XoXo – Karey
