Alex and Larissa were married in October (one of my favorite months of the year) in San Francisco. The weather did not disappoint – clear blue skies, a warm sun, and lots of love. Larissa got ready at her family home in Pacifica (with all of her girls of course) before heading off to San Francisco.
Her father escorted her up the staircase in front of Holy Virgin Cathedral, and at the top was the bridal party and Alex, waiting in the front. With a quick kiss and hug from dad, the ceremony began.
Now, If you’ve never been to a Russian Cathedral, or have not experienced an Orthodox wedding, you need to – even if it’s just once. The ceremony is completely in Russian and there is a beautiful chorus that sings hymns. It is hands down one of the most spiritual, moving, and beautiful ceremonies I have ever seen – and I didn’t even understand a single word.
Alex and Larissa held their reception on Treasure Island – the same little place that I was married over 10 years ago! Flavor infused vodka were on all of the table tops (what I wouldn’t give to get my hands on some of the rootbeer vodka!) and cheers of joy were abundant.
He sang to her… She was giddy with excitement… There wasn’t a single person without a smile on their face, the entire day.
I cannot wait to photograph Larissa’s sister’s wedding and her cousin’s wedding in 2016!
Enjoy!
