We feel incredibly lucky to document the beautiful love stories that unfold on wedding days. This time around, it was Shelby and Chris who let us into their world at the magnificent St. Dominic’s Catholic Church in San Francisco. Being raised Catholic, I (Karey) have a soft spot for these ceremonies, and this one was just as heartwarming. The church, with its exquisite interiors and the peaceful atmosphere, was nothing less than enchanting. Every detail, from the beautiful decorations to the spectacular venue, was a photographer’s dream come true. And let’s not forget the reception at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins – it was a lively affair loaded with laughter, dance, and unforgettable moments.

An Online Love Story To Wedding Plannings

Shelby and Chris’ romantic tale is one that truly captures the essence of modern love. They met on a dating app, proving that even in the digital age, true love can find its way! The next chapter of their love story unfolded in the scenic San Luis Obispo. Over a delightful dinner and under a picturesque sunset, Chris knelt down on one knee and asked Shelby to be his partner for life, overlooking the vast, beautiful ocean.

Planning their wedding was an adventure in itself – a mix of fun, excitement, and a dash of challenge. On one hand, they had the joy of exploring potential venues, trying on wedding dresses, and the delightful task of taste-testing reception entrees. On the other hand, incorporating suggestions from both their families into the planning proved to be a delicate balancing act. But through it all, Shelby and Chris tackled every high and low with ease.

Chris And Shelby’s Wedding At St. Dominic’s Catholic Church

The day began with extraordinary energy as we documented Shelby’s transformation from a glowing bride-to-be to a stunning bride, all thanks to the hair and makeup artist(s) from Status Salon. Surrounded by her bubbly bridesmaids, she donned a breathtaking wedding dress from Gesinee’s Bridal. Once she was all dressed up, it was time to head over to the majestic St. Dominic’s Catholic Church. Despite the unexpected Juneteenth parade that had turned the San Francisco traffic into a chaotic mess, Shelby arrived in style, thanks to the reliable service of Black Tie Transportation.

Inside the church, the atmosphere was simply heavenly. The mix of artificial and natural light illuminated every corner, creating a divine setting. But the real stars of the show were Shelby and Chris, who stood at the altar, exchanging vows and sharing a passionate kiss. As they made their grand exit amidst cheers from the crowd, the air buzzed with joy and celebration.

Among the many beautiful moments of the day, Chris and Shelby’s couple portraits truly stand out. After saying their “I dos,” they fully embraced the city’s charm, diving headfirst into their post-nuptial photo shoot. Chris and Shelby were complete naturals in front of the lens, requiring barely any direction from me. Their comfort and ease with each other were palpable, making our job as a photographer an absolute breeze. They reveled in being themselves, and that’s when the magic truly came alive.

They shared tender kisses and walked hand-in-hand while crossing the street (rest assured, all traffic rules were adhered to!). These little moments of spontaneous acts of love amidst the city hustle not only showcased their strong, authentic connection but also added a dash of urban charm to their photos.

The reception at the InterContinental Mark Hopkins was an elegant affair – a huge shoutout to the venue coordinator, Sasha Krassovsky, and wedding coordinator, Cinthy Walsh, from A Touch of Grace, for managing EVERYTHING smoothly. The venue was illuminated by warm lighting, and the tables were adorned with exquisite linens from InterContinental Mark Hopkins.

The meticulously arranged flower vases by Green Petal Designs behind the head table left everyone in awe. Family and friends delivered speeches that made the newlyweds laugh out loud. Then, it was time for some special dances of the bride and groom with their parents. The DJ from Spintronix Entertainment later took the stage, setting the dance floor on fire and ensuring a night of non-stop celebration.
