Let’s be honest, there’s nothing better than a scrumptious late night snack. But a delicious grilled cheese sandwich paired with some yummy tomato soup in a shot glass, after a long night of dancing, drinking and partying? There just might not be anything better than that.

Late Night Snacks: The Secret To A Great Reception Party

Reception dinners are typically more formal for most of the weddings I have photographed. Traditionally speaking, I see a lot of chicken, salmon and beef dishes paired with vegetables, potatoes or rice, and some sort of roll. While it’s very tasty, let’s be honest: it can be a bit boring. So why not spice it up with something a little less traditional toward the end of the night?

One of the things I’m seeing a lot of couples opt for is hosting some sort of fun late night snacks for their long-lasting reception guests. It’s always been met with enthusiasm and gratitude, too! Giving your guests something to snack on after a few hours of dancing and drinking will make you their new favorite people!

Some favorite late night snacks you can serve at your wedding!

There are so many different ideas on what you can serve your guests: sweet, salty, savory, you name it! I, for one, always love grabbing a milkshake from In N Out after a long wedding day. Other ideas that are tried-and-true by wedding guests?

  • Pizza slices
  • Flaming donuts and ice cream
  • Milk and cookies
  • Street Tacos
  • Pretzels with various dipping sauces
  • Churros
  • S’mores

You can make it even more personal by incorporating something that means a lot to the two of you. Maybe your first date was to a baseball game and you ate hot dogs? Serve hot dogs! Or maybe you guys love nothing more than sipping coffee together with biscotti cookies? Serve it! The options are pretty endless and can be totally personalized to be something your guests will appreciate.

How to go about serving late night snacks for your wedding?

There are quite a few local wedding venues in the San Ramon Valley who are now offering late night snacks as part of their catering packages. Some of the venues I work with most often that offer late night snacks include the Palm Event Center, Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery and The Bridges Golf Club! All you have to do is ask!
