Engagements are such a special time for couples. It marks the start of a new beginning in their relationship, where they commit to love one another through thick and thin. And when couples contact us to photograph this milestone in their lives, we are always so excited to freeze in time this precious memory for them. Maribel and Gustavo’s engagement session took place amongst the redwood trees at Joaquin Miller Park in Oakland CA. Surrounded by nature on all sides, these two lovebirds radiated love and happiness throughout the session. 

Meet The Couple

We love hearing the details of the proposal stories from our couples! Maribel and Gustavo were engaged at Maribel’s hometown church in Mexico, where she always dreamed of getting married. But when they realized planning a wedding there, and all the details required to coordinate it, would prove to be too difficult, Gustavo chose to propose to her there instead. And now they are planning a wedding at Casa Real in Pleasanton with a Catholic Ceremony at St. Michael’s in Livermore! 

Maribel And Gustavo’s Engagement Session At Joaquin Miller Park

Gustavo and Maribel wanted to do an engagement session with redwood trees, and since the well-known forests in Muir Park and Big Sur were too far away, they decided to have their session at Joaquin Miller Park in Oakland. Talk about a picturesque location! Joaquin Miller Park is a forest of redwood trees thriving in a metropolitan area. The park is often visited by people looking for wildlife and beautiful plants and many people plan events there as well! 

For their engagement session, Maribel and Gustavo had two outfits. For the first half, Gustavo was styled in a crisp black shirt and pants, while Maribel wore a stunning red dress with black heels. The lovely couple was surrounded by majestic tall trees, and the natural light peeking through the trees added a magical charm to their engagement photos. 

For the next outfit, Maribel and Gustavo chose blue for their color scheme. Gustavo wore a blue shirt and khaki pants and Maribel wore a beautiful blue dress with pink flowers. They looked awesome! We found one spot in particular that was just perfect for this look – a wooden log, where the couple sat, relaxed, and had the brightest smiles on their faces.

Maribel and Gustavo were such naturals in front of the camera, and were radiating happiness. They held hands, shared sweet kisses, and lovingly glanced at each other, making it so easy to work with them. Their love was evident in every frame. It was a splendid shoot from start to finish with the perfect weather and backdrop for a truly romantic engagement session.
