I love crafty brides – not the pinterest copy-cat crafty – but the crafty visionary bride. Elizabeth, of Beejay as she is affectionately know by her friends and family, is this type of bride. It’s a fine line when you’re DIY-ing – How much is too much? Where do you draw the line? How do you make sure it’s not all consuming and stressful? Beejay did everything just right – she left the biggies to the professionals, but took care of the little touches herself! From her “Mint to Be” favors (so adorable) to the bell-topped ribbon wands for the exit, made sure everything was elegant, yet playful, and completely them.
Dan and Beejay first met online via OkCupid! Beejay waited for Dan to email her and they began “talking.” Impressed with his ability to type complete sentences and use proper punctuations, Beejay continued the conversations. One thing led to the next, and the two officially began dating. As every girl should, Beejay has high standards and Dan was able to not only meet those standards, but exceed them – for both her and her family. His genuine kindness, support, and unwavering dedication to life and fun, sealed the deal.
The Proposal (in the words of Beejay):
“My parents were coming to town and Dan waited to ask my dad until they arrived. Both sets of parents met for the first time on a Friday night. Saturday morning, I woke up and immediately said to Dan “I need coffee”. We usually walk down to Peets for coffee on the weekend mornings, so this wasn’t unusual. I rolled out of bed and threw on some yoga pants and a cardigan, never touched my hair. Dan on the other hand decided he needed to take a shower and came out in nice shorts. All while I sat on the couch saying “Babe what are you doing?! We are just going to get coffee.” We walked down and got coffee. Then we went to the park across the street and sat on our bench that we love, under our favorite redwood tree – it was even the bench where our relationship first started. The park was totally empty, which was unusual for a Saturday morning. Dan started to recount the last year, saying lots of nice things, and got down on one knee to pop the question! In tears, I said “yes!”.”
During wedding planning, Dan and Beejay had a great time and truly enjoyed every aspect of it. Beejay, obviously, enjoyed crafting – and Dan – well, he enjoyed seeing his bride-to-be so happy doing something that she loves!
Enjoy!
