Emile and Marina’s love story began in the realm of modern romance – online! After dating for over half a year and enduring the perils of a long-distance relationship (Emile in the US and Marina in Japan), Emile had a surprise up his sleeve during their trip to Hawaii. We love hearing about proposals, and this was no exception. He proposed to Marina during a photoshoot, sealing their love with a picture-perfect moment.

The couple’s favorite part of the wedding planning process was reconnecting with friends and family they hadn’t seen in a while, especially after the pandemic. Though corralling everyone proved to be quite the challenge, Marina’s family’s visit from Japan prompted them to plan a wedding reception with very little notice. Fast forward to their big day, Emile and Marina shared their love at the gorgeous Casa Real At Ruby Hill Winery, surrounded by their loved ones. Their wedding day was a stunning testament to their love, with endless joy, laughter, and one epic surprise that none of us or their guests are soon going to forget!

It was a wedding unlike any other we had ever shot. With no ceremony and just a reception, we knew we were in for a unique experience. And boy, were we right. From the moment we met Emile and Marina, we could tell they were something special. We were thrilled how, even with such short notice, they had planned everything with such care – from choosing the perfect venue, Casa Real at Ruby Hill Winery, to prepping two different outfits for the day’s festivities.

Marina looked absolutely breathtaking in her wedding dress, with her hair and makeup done by Bay Area Beautiful. And Emile? Well, let’s just say he cleaned up pretty nicely in his crisp suit and beaming smile. As we captured each little detail of their getting ready moments, we felt the energy building – this was going to be a day to remember! Though they had tied the knot in a civil ceremony a year prior, the couple decided to go all out for this special occasion, with one exception. And the best part of it all was capturing the love they shared (that literally transcended borders) throughout the day!

It was time for the couples portraits, and we were so excited to capture Emile and Marina’s chemistry and bond against the venue’s beautiful natural backdrops. And these two absolutely nailed it! They were complete romantics, with the most stunning poses that just spoke volumes of their effortless chemistry. It was honestly heartwarming seeing their love as they walked hand-in-hand through sprawling vineyards or kissed against golden hour light. And with the overcast skies above us adding some extra drama, capturing their love felt like we were in the heart of a movie scene!

The evening was a picturesque scene, with gorgeous florals courtesy of Rosebud Floral Designs and stunning lighting by Fantasy Sound. Emile and Marina walked into their reception radiating joy, but the best part of it all was that their romantic plot was reeling towards a happy surprise at the end! Soon, Norman, The DJ from Fantasy Sound had the dance floor packed in no time, and the party was in full swing! But the real star of the show was yet to come. During a touching slideshow that Emile and Marina had put together to introduce their families, they revealed a beautiful secret – they were expecting a baby! The room erupted with joy, and we felt incredibly fortunate to be there to capture their special moment.
