Hugh & Veronica // Helena Civic Center, Montana

From small and intimate weddings to grand-scale weddings consisting of 300 guests, we love meeting new people who are kind and welcoming, and photographing them just makes our day. At Hazy Lane Studios, we are committed to creating genuine bonds with our couples and their friends and families, and also love to document how awesome their wedding day was. Hugh and Veronica’s fall-themed wedding at the Helena Civic Center in Helena, Montana was amazing from start to finish. You could see that the bride and groom put a lot of effort into planning their wedding.

Hugh And Veronica’s Love Story

Hugh and Veronica didn’t start dating until after they graduated. The lovebirds worked out a long-distance relationship for a while and even though distance kept them apart, they both knew that the other was “THE ONE” from the start. Hugh and Veronica’s love story is a true example of how nothing can stand in the way when it comes to loving someone unconditionally.

When we asked the couple about their proposal, Veronica said “ We went to a Forest Service Cabin we had visited before. It had become a special place for us. There was a beautiful meadow and it had been raining all day (Hugh was panicking lol). When it stopped raining, Hugh asked if we could go on a walk with our dog. We walked to the top of a hill and were looking out at the sun peeking through the clouds. Suddenly, Hugh turned to me and said “I have something to ask you”. He got down on one knee and said “Will you do me the honor of marrying me?” I, of course, was crying! He also (unknown to me) brought my phone for taking photos and even brought to-go cups of champagne for us to have.” It sounds like Hugh certainly nailed his proposal preparations!

Hugh And Veronica’s Wedding At Helena Civic Center

Veronica and Hugh’s wedding at Helena Civic Center was filled with love, laughter, and happy tears. The couple was such a dynamic duo and made our work easy with their beaming smiles and amazing chemistry. Their wedding photos are a true representation of what being head over heels for someone looks like. Hugh and Veronica if you’re reading this, we just want to say THANK YOU.

Hugh and Veronica’s wedding day started with all the getting-ready preparations. Veronica was so calm and composed as she sat patiently in her chair and got her makeup done. To celebrate, Veronica and her bridesmaids popped some champagne. Their reactions were totally epic and they were so excited to be there for Hugh and Veronica. As time drew nearer, Veronica’s mom, Caroline, came to check in on her daughter and was so elated to see Veronica in her dress.

Dressed in a smart navy blue suit, Hugh had his back turned as he and Veronica had their first look outdoors. Walking towards Hugh with the widest smile on her face and a gorgeous bouquet in her hands, Veronica looked absolutely breathtaking. Hugh turned around and got so emotional as he saw Veronica, making her just as emotional with his reaction! It was such a heartwarming moment.

Hugh and Veronica originally wanted a church ceremony but had to change their plans as the diocese was not accommodating a Sunday service. They opted to keep everything in one place and decided to tie the knot at the historic Helena Civic Center at 3:30 PM. The couple chose a burgundy/champagne/navy color palette for their wedding and the ceremonial room had massive chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, which provided us with a great ambiance for their wedding ceremony pictures.

One of our favorite moments from the wedding was when Veronica’s dad, Ron, walked her down the aisle wearing a tie with the faces of all three of his kids printed on it – he was so happy and proud! After exchanging their vows and saying I do, it was time to head out for some group and couples portraits. Styled in semi-formal outfits, the bridal party looked sensational! They were so much fun. We loved their quirkiness and enthusiasm!

Veronica and Hugh’s wedding reception was a night to remember. Veronica’s bridesmaids and maid of honor, Elizabeth, gave emotional and hilarious speeches. Soon after, Hugh and Veronica had their first dance and swayed to the music of “Whatever It Is” by Zac Brown Band. Veronica also danced with her father to “Country Roads” by John Denver and had us all in tears! As the dance floor opened for all, everyone joined the happy couple and danced the night away.
