Rustic and Romantic Wedding at Casa Real // Kasie + Sam

Kasie and Sam’s love story started out as a friendship many years ago. During a surprise trip to Paris for Kasie’s 30th birthday, Sam asked her to be his wife! The couple planned a rustic and romantic fall wedding at Casa Real in Pleasanton.

The wedding was held on a beautiful day in October. The beautiful bride wore a dress with asymmetrical lace and a circular train. Her mother, step-mother, and bridesmaids helped her with the row of tiny buttons that ran down her back. Kasie and Sam passed up the first look photo session, opting instead to share that magical moment of first seeing each other during the wedding ceremony. They managed to sneak in some time together before the ceremony, though, each hiding behind the edges of a door frame to stay hidden.

As the ceremony began, the wedding party made their way down the aisle of Casa Real’s Amber Room. The bridesmaids wore long, burgundy gowns, and a shy ring bearer was carried down the aisle. Sam waited patiently for his bride under the chuppa. Kasie walked in through the large, arched doors of the Amber Room, and all eyes were fixed on her: especially Sam’s. The beaming bride walked down the aisle with her proud father. Kasie gave her father a hug, and she and Sam finally stood face to face for the first time that day.

The friendship and love that this couple has developed over the years shined throughout the ceremony. They exchanged vows and a kiss. Then, Sam triumphantly stomped on a glass, representing an unbreakable marriage. The newlyweds walked hand in hand up the aisle and into the Grand Salon, to share a celebratory drink with the wedding party.

After some family portraits, the bride and groom had a photo session in the vineyards. They lovingly joked and laughed as they walked hand in hand between the rows of grapes. They were clearly excited to be married and for the celebration to come!

The Grand Salon was decorated with beautiful, rustic details. A wooden backdrop with the words “Mr. and Mrs.” on it stood just behind the couple’s sweetheart tables. Brown window shutters hosted the guests’ seating assignments. The wooden, rectangular tables were set with scalloped chargers and floral runners.

The guests were treated with fun surprises throughout the night. After the traditional first dance, speeches, and cutting of the cake, a caricature artist did sketches of the bride and groom and their guests. A milk and cookies bar displayed three types of milk and delicious cookies for a mid-reception snack. Towards the end of the night, guests flocked to a late-night snack bar with potato chips and sliders.

Monogrammed wine corks sat on a table beneath a sign that said, “Take a favor- wine not?” The guests left with this little memento, and lots of memories, from the beautiful celebration of this loving couple.

What did Kasie and Sam think of working with Karey… “It was an immediate connection I felt with Karey from the start (she took my call once when she was at her daughter’s gymnastics practice, THAT is dedication!). She flew to San Diego to do our engagement shoot on the beach, and the photos were stunning! She made us instantly feel comfortable in front of the camera, and kept the mood light and fun. The day after the wedding we saw a couple teaser photos and were obsessed! It has been about a month and we are already looking through our wedding album to choose our favorites for our album! I can’t believe we got everything back so fast. Karey really listened to what was important for us, what we wanted to make sure she captured. I am so happy we chose her to capture our big day.

Would recommend her again and again!”
